Township High School District 211 was well-represented
among recipients in the Illinois State Board of Education’s 2009 Those Who Excel education
awards program. The State Board annually sponsors the Those Who Excel awards to honor
individuals who have made significant contributions to the state’s public and non-public
schools.
James B. Conant High School English Teacher Ann Metaxatos was among the Top 10 candidates
for the state’s prestigious Illinois Teacher of the Year award. Mrs. Metaxatos has been
an English teacher at Conant High School since 1984, and has been instrumental in
development of a school-wide reading initiative.
