High School District 211 has a long and distinguished history of high student achievement. It consistently has provided students with a strong classroom educational foundation along with opportunities to develop skills in activities and athletics. The District’s fiscal capacity has grown, enabling it to continue offering strong programs to an increasingly diverse student population. At the core of the District’s strengths are its highly-qualified and very effective teaching and leadership teams, as well as parents and students who truly value the educational opportunities inherent in District 211 schools.

Certified positions in District 211 are those positions that require a Teaching, Administrative, Substitute Teaching or other certificate issued by the Illinois State Board of Education. Positions become available at various times through out the year and are posted on this page.
District 211 is committed to maintaining a quality teaching staff. Teachers are recognized locally, statewide, and nationally for their outstanding efforts. There are nearly 1,000 certified staff members, with more than 80 percent of them holding master’s degrees or beyond. Since the 2000-2001 school year, a total of 73 District 211 teachers have earned National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the highest professional credential in the teaching field. In addition, several teachers have been selected as Golden Apple Foundation finalists, an award that was created to honor exceptional teachers and acknowledge their commitment and dedication to teaching.

High School District 211 operates one of the largest school food service programs in Illinois, with more than 9,000 students participating in school lunch and breakfast. Menus meet the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and meals served meet or exceed the recommended daily allowance of key nutrients while controlling the percentage of calories from fat. Hot lunch, breakfast, and snacks are served in nationally recognized school cafeterias.

Transporting nearly 9,000 students, traveling more than 7,700 miles each day, District 211’s Transportation Department operates one of Illinois’ largest school-owned bus fleets with 160 buses and vans. All vehicles meet and exceed strict safety standards set by State and Federal regulations, and all District 211 mechanics are nationally certified, the only known school district in Illinois to boast this fact.
